The 1907 French spanking novel Fustigations vécues by Jean de Villiot was illustrated by an anonymous artist.
It was translated into English and published under the title Painful Pleasures in 1931 with illustrations by Francis Heuber. Another version of Painful Pleasures exists with artwork done by E. Remsen.
