Anonymous, Nell in Bridewell

Published in 1900, Nell in Bridewell is an English translation of the German work Lenchen im Zuchthause by Wilhelm Reinhard. The story focuses on corporal punishment in southern Germany, presented as taking place before 1848. The illustrations featured here are anonymous. The book was later translated into French as La Flagellation des Femmes en Allemagne, which featured illustrations by Martin van Maële.

Nell in Bridewell was reprinted by The Psyche Press in 1932 with illustrations done again by an anonymous artist, which you can view below.
