Wellred Weekly explores the spanking art of Belgian artist, Jean-Philippe.

Volume 1, Number 6 : March 23, 2012

How long have you been drawing spanking art?

I’ve always drawn, especially during my childhood and consequently I was never bored when I was a child. However, the style of drawing I use now was born in me during my teens. Unlike a great many other people, spanking was not an element of my childhood but appealed to me later in life as an obvious way to shape all my confused fantasies.

What inspires you to draw?

Quite a lot of things! A pretty lady or an erotic desire of course, but also a particular moment in life, a setting, an atmosphere, a piece of music…

Are there other artists that interest or inspire you?

I have been inspired a great deal by a number of the old French spanking artists such as Carlo, Louis Maltese etc. However, it’s not really as simple as that because I draw my inspiration in one way or another from all the drawings that I have had the opportunity to see. I am also very interested in the world of comics as a whole, whether old or new and from all continents!

Do you have a particular technique or way that you go about drawing?

I use the good old-fashioned method and always draw on paper with a black pencil. Afterwards, I occasionally add colour but for this I use my computer. I enjoy colouring my old black and white drawings as it gives them a second life.

Do you prefer to draw in colour or black & white/greyscale?

I prefer greyscale. Nothing is totally black or totally white in the world. I enjoy the combination between light and shadow. That’s why I like the work of black and white drawings.

Is there a target audience that you specifically aim at?

No, not really but I was delighted to discover that I have a large female audience. I think perhaps I was looking forward to having such a precious audience whilst not really daring to think it would be possible?

Does your art work represent your own spanking preferences?

I am a spanker in real life and I love this role and assume this part. Having said that, my work tends to be primarily F/F oriented but this is just one representation of all the things I love about spanking.

Do you produce artwork which is not related to spanking as well?

Yes, of course but only occasionally. I find spanking artwork to be an inspiring way to express all desires and emotions.

Do you draw just for personal pleasure or for profit?

I only draw for personal pleasure! I am not a professional, this is just a hobby.

Have you considered using your artwork in spanking publications/books?

Although I love the web and find the computer to be a fabulous tool for communication I am one of those people who enjoys having a book in my hands. It’s a precious object if you like reading and you don’t really get the same experience when viewing a website page. A book with my work in one day? Maybe… I hope so!

Do you have any plans for future artwork?

Oh yes! I have some plans, it’s just a question of time. I have one project for a drawings collection of spanked ‘mature ladies’ (punishment deserved of course!). I find older ladies in this situation to be very sexy, the younger ones are not the only beautiful ones!
